Since 2016, the Department has been promoting historical immersion through study trips to key sites of musical relevance and interest.
In direct connection with its symposia, the Department has organised three study trips to explore Bologna and Venice (2016), Naples (2022), and Brussels (2023). This initiative continues with a trip to Bologna and Modena (October 2026), dedicated to exploring the venues and practices of the oratorio. All these programmes benefit from the cultural expertise of Marc Vanscheeuwijck.
At the same time, some instrument and chamber music classes organise their own themed trips. In recent years, members of the student and teaching community have been able to visit Rome (2020) and Vienna (2025), as well as Paris and Germany (2025).
