Timothée Urbain

Originaire de la région parisienne et issu d’une famille de musiciens, Timothée Urbain est initié dans son enfance au piano ainsi qu’aux percussions.

Il intègre le CNSM de Paris et obtient un Master d’écriture après avoir étudié avec des personnalités comme Thierry Escaich, Michaël Levinas, Thomas Lacôte...
Il poursuit parallèlement ses études de piano au CNSM de Lyon, puis à la Musikhochschule de Lübeck, avant enfin de se perfectionner au Conservatoire de Montréal. Durant ces étapes de son parcours, il se forme auprès notamment d’Anne-Lise Gastaldi, David Braslawsky, Florent Boffard, Konstanze Eickhorst, Louise Bessette…

En 2016 il est boursier de la French-American Piano Association, puis lauréat du International Keyboard  Institute & Festival à New-York. En 2017 il remporte le prix de la meilleure interprétation d’une œuvre de Chopin au concours Theodor Leschetisky à Hambourg.
Pianiste éclectique, Timothée Urbain interprète le répertoire classique et contemporain - il a par exemple joué les  Vingt regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus d'Olivier Messiaen lors d’une série de concerts au Canada, en France et en Allemagne - mais il aime également se consacrer au jazz et aux musiques improvisées. Il a ainsi eu l’occasion de collaborer avec des artistes du monde du théâtre ou de la chanson.

Timothée Urbain est actuellement aussi professeur de piano au conservatoire à rayonnement régional d’Amiens.

Timothée Urbain was born near Paris into a family of musicians,  and as a child he was taught the piano and percussions.

He joined the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSM) and mastered in musical composition after studying with prominent teachers such as  Thierry Escaich, Michaël Levinas, Thomas Lacôte… At the same time he went on studying the piano in the Conservatoire de Lyon (CNSM) then at the Lübeck Musikhochschule, before udgrading his skills at the Montreal Conservatoire. All through these years he was trained by Anne-Lise Gastaldi, David Braslawsky, Florent Boffard, Konstanze Eickhorst, Louise Bessette among others.

In 2016, he was granted a scholarship by the French-American Piano Association, and then was an award-winner at the International Keyboard  Institute & Festival in New-York. In 2017 he won a price for best interpretation of a Chopin piece at the  Theodor Leschetisky competition in Hambourg.
Timothée is a versatile and distinctive pianist who plays both classical and contemporary music -for instance he played Olivier Messiaen’s Vingt regards sur l'Enfant-Jésus (Twenty contemplations on the infant Jesus) during a series of concerts in Canada, France and Germany – and he also likes playing jazz and improvised music. He also occasionaly accompanies actors and singers.

Timothée currently teaches the piano at the regional Conservatoire in Amiens.
