Inclusive Education

Inclusive education is “education that implements devices aimed at removing or reducing the material, pedagogical, cultural, social and psychological barriers encountered during access to studies, in the course of studies and in socio-professional integration by the beneficiary students” (art. 1 4° of the Decree of January 30, 2015 on Inclusive Higher Education).


Any student who wishes to apply for a support plan related to inclusive teaching (disability, illness, immobilization, high-level athlete, etc.) in order to be able to continue his or her studies or participate in evaluation periods must contact the Service d'Accueil et d'Accompagnement as soon as possible after registration. The Service d'Accueil et d'Accompagnement is intended for students:

 
  • with temporary or permanent health problems
  • with sensory or motor problems
  • with learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysorthographia, etc.)
  • with disabilities

At the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, the Service d'Accueil et d'Accompagnement can be contacted: psycho-social service.

If a student applicant is granted student beneficiary (EB) status, the Service d'Accueil et d'Accompagnement ensures, in compliance with the Decree on inclusive higher education of January 30, 2014 and the Conservatoire's Study Regulations, that access to and pursuit of studies are facilitated by reasonable accommodations while maintaining the demanding level of teaching at the school.

 

Applications for recognition must be submitted no later than November 15, 2024 for the 1st term and March 15, 2025 for the 2nd term.


The assistance provided by the Conservatoire's Service d'Accueil et d'Accompagnement is either specific, one-off help, or personalized, regular support.The assistance provided by the Conservatoire's Service d'Accueil et d'Accompagnement may take the form of specific, one-off assistance, or regular, personalized support. A wide range of reasonable arrangements can be made to meet identified needs:

 
 
  • Accommodations in terms of curriculum organization, assessment methods and study follow-up
  • Pedagogical assistance: note-taking, work methods, sign language interpreter, examination arrangements, access to documentary resources, etc.
  • Raising awareness among the school's various departments, teachers and students of the difficulties encountered by the student
  • Supporting the student in his or her dealings within the Conservatoire, as well as with administrations and outside organizations
  • Collaboration with specialized educational assistance services, coaches and other contributors
