An internationally renowned soloist and teacher, the French violinist of Romanian origin Radu Blidar teaches at the Royal College of Music in London and the Conservatoire royal in Brussels.
Radu Blidar made his debut with an orchestra at the age of twelve. His engagements, in recitals and concerts, have taken him to New York. (Lincoln Center), London (Barbican Centre, Royal Festival Hall), Paris (Cité de la Musique, Maison de Radio France, Musée d'Orsay, Salle Gaveau, Théâtre du Châtelet), Salzburg (Mozarteum), as well as Germany, Belgium, Spain, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Norway, Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, South Africa, China, South Korea, and Japan.
Radu Blidar studied in Romania, France at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and Austria. He has won numerous international competitions. Elected Young Violinist of the Year in 1993 by the Council of Europe and the Juventus Foundation, he was awarded the Nadia Boulanger Prize by the Fondation de France in 1994 and received the Musique Française and Spedidam prizes for chamber music in 1997 and 1999.
Radu Blidar has made several recordings that have been praised by the press for record labels, as well as for radio and television. He is particularly fond of the concert repertoire of the 20th century and is the dedicatee and creator of several works.
His students are winners of international competitions and members of prestigious orchestras.
He plays several violins, including a Stradivarius from 1714.
