François Dambois

Biography

François Dambois studied piano and singing before specializing in the lute. With a master's degree from the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles in each of these disciplines, he now devotes his practice to basso continuo, combining harmonic sensitivity with attention to the text.

Teaching plays a major role in his professional life. At the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, he teaches a course on music theory specific to early music, as well as a course on sight-reading for singers (“Sight-reading with lyrics”). In this context, he draws on his experience as a performer and music editor to develop a pragmatic teaching approach that encourages students to work independently with sources and scores.

Deeply committed to teaching in the academy, he is also a piano teacher in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe and Anderlecht, where he shares his love of playing, listening, and discovering instruments.

At the same time, François Dambois performs regularly as a continuo player. He has collaborated with Scherzi Musicali, the Royal Orchestra of Wallonia, A Nocte Temporis, Il Gardellino, the Vlaams Radio Koor, Les Épopées, and Agamemnon, among others.
