Since 2010, the Conservatoire's Early Music department has been organizing instrument fairs as a new meeting place for students and instrument makers.
In the world of early music, there is a wide variety of copies of original instruments, so it seemed worthwhile to facilitate student encounters with instrument makers, who are always eager to share their work, exchange ideas and opinions, and even debate their instruments.
The fairs are a privileged moment in the year, to discover the many types of instruments copied by makers, to learn about the world of instrument making with its beauties and constraints, to pass on messages to makers about their desires and expectations for the world of instrument making of tomorrow, to try out different instruments reflecting different aesthetics or artistic choices, but above all to meet each other.
The fairs are held annually, alternating between string and wind instruments. Conferences, debates and masterclasses are organized around instrument making and organology.
