Biography

Composer, guitarist, guitar teacher, professor of jazz history, music teacher, lecturer, media librarian.

Current positions
Since September 14, 2015: Professor of Jazz History and Commented Auditions at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year Bachelor students and 1st year Master students.
Since July 1, 2010: Employee at the Médiathèque/Point-Culture of the French Community in Brussels.
Since September 15, 2013: Integrated into the Educational Service of the Médiathèque/Point-Culture.

Nature of work
At the Conservatoire: Teaching jazz history following a chronological model. Study of jazz according to thematic subjects. Supervision and guidance of student presentations and written assignments.
At Pointculture: Conducting lectures, listening sessions, and meetings related to the Médiathèque collections "Jazz" and "Archipel" (experimental music). Activities for schools and training for teachers.

Projects undertaken
Monographs on Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
Lectures on jazz history focusing on periods such as Swing, Hard Bop, and Free Jazz.
Lecture on John Cage at Pointculture, La Cambre, ESAA Avignon, and La Charcuterie gallery.
Presentations on jazz at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Charleroi in partnership with Pointculture Charleroi.
Jazz listening sessions including "Les guitaristes," "Body & Soul – Autopsy of a Standard," and "Max Roach" in partnership with Virginie Roy (Marni Jazz).
Meetings with Fabrizio Cassol, Baudouin De Jaer, Maxime Bodson, Lucille Calmel, Fabien Degryse.
Radio shows on contemporary and experimental music on Musiq3, "Archipel" segment by Anne Mattheeuws.
Animation of exhibitions for general or school audiences such as "Des elles, des ils," "Insolutherie," and "Votre Congo."
Participation in Europe Refresh fair for the project Belgium Underground, and at the Education Fair in Charleroi in 2015.
Collaboration on MusicMap "saxophone" in partnership with the MIM, writing portraits of jazz saxophonists.

Rawfrucht (1995–2000): experimental rock band with Thomas Van Cottom, Teuk Henri, collaborations with Stéphane Galland, Sharko, Jean-Yves Evrard, Rudy Trouve. Concerts in Belgium, France, Italy. Openings for Sun Ra Arkestra, Tom Cora, Aka Moon, Moondog Junior, David Shea, Meier Asher, Kiss My Jazz, Ruins, Keiji Haino, Ted Milton. Discography: Rawfrücht (Sub Rosa 1996), #2 (Subrosa 1999).
Un Jour Mon Prince Viendra (2009): solo project created at La Bellone.
Cheresse (2008–2012): experimental rock group with Arnaud Paquotte and Jean-Philippe De Gheest. Tours in Belgium, France, Spain, Switzerland. Concerts at Musique Action.
Viande au Plancher (2006–2010): contemporary poetry and improvised music duo with Antoine Boute. Concerts at La Malterie, Halles de Schaerbeek, opening for Maja Ratkje, Recyclart, Festival Livresse, Expoésie, Salon Off du Livre.
Zwiebel (1999–2002): group with Anja Kowalski and Manuel Bucher.
