Didier Poskin

Biography

After completing his studies at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, Didier Poskin was admitted to the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth, an elite institution designed to further the training of a select group of graduates from Belgian and foreign conservatories. There, for three years, he received the teaching, guidance, and friendship of Edmond Baert, who considered him one of his finest disciples. He then sought to refine and diversify his practice under renowned masters, benefiting extensively from the guidance of Walter Grimmer in Zurich, Maurice Gendron in Paris, and the Amadeus Quartet at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. His development was also enriched by masterclasses with Pierre Fournier, Daniel Chafran, Frans Helmerson, and Wolfgang Boettcher. Even at the dawn of his professional career, he was invited to join the Orchestre Royal Philharmonique de Flandres as principal cellist. He later focused on chamber music, joining the Quatuor Verdi in Cologne. During his ten years with the ensemble, he toured worldwide and recorded numerous major works, including the complete Schubert string quartets. Today, he divides his activities between teaching and performing as a soloist and chamber musician. Two recordings dedicated to François Servais, known as the Paganini of the cello, have been met with great acclaim. Driven by a generous nature, he shares his experience and passion with young musicians at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, where he holds a cello class. His pedagogy reflects a richly varied career as an orchestral soloist, quartet chamber musician, and solo performer.
