Jacques Neefs is a director, playwright, and actor, a graduate of the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, where he now teaches as a professor of declamation, focusing on the interpretation of non-dramatic texts.
He is the founder of the Compagnie Act-Hours, which has produced, among others, Mère de Guerre by Adolphe Nysenholc with the support of the CAPT, Araberlin by Jalila Baccar at the Théâtre des Martyrs, and outdoor performances at the Citadelle de Namur, such as Sambre by Bernard Yslaire in 2010 or Dom Juan de Molière, Vauban est son double, which he also authored. He has also directed several productions at the Théâtre du Parc, including Les Troyennes by Sartre/Euripides and Le Diable Rouge by Antoine Rault, totaling around fifty stage productions.
As an actor, he has performed in major theaters within the French Community, including the Théâtre National, Théâtre du Parc, Atelier Sainte-Anne, Comédie Claude Volter, and in Villers-la-Ville and young companies, under the direction of Bernard De Coster, Philippe Van Kessel, Daniel Scahaize, Daniel Leveugle, Frédéric Dussenne, Jean-Claude Berutti, Jacques Lassalle, Jean-Marie Villégier, Charles Kleinberg, and Frédéric Latin.
In film, he has appeared alongside Olivier Gourmet in Congorama, Roger Hanin in Monsieur Joseph, Catherine Jacob in La Torpille, as well as in numerous short films.
He serves on the board of the Universités Populaires du Théâtre and the Midis de la Poésie and works to promote new texts that offer fresh perspectives on our world. With his students at the Conservatoire, he regularly participates in theater festivals in Krakow, the Carthage Theater Days, organizes recitals, and introduces them to the craft of acting through his own creations.
He is a passionate discoverer of new texts as well as an admirer of the great classics of literature, enjoying sharing them with the public through his theatrical projects and with his students in his teaching activities.
