Thibaut Lenaerts

Biography

Thibaut Lenaerts obtained his first prizes in singing with Greta DeReyghere at the Conservatoire royal de Liège and with Thierry Migliorini at the Conservatoire royal de Mons. He performs as a soloist under the direction of William Christie with Les Arts Florissants, Hervé Niquet with Le Concert Spirituel, as well as Guy Van Waas, Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, Louis Langrée, and Patrick Davin. He has also sung under the direction of Marc Minkowski, Frieder Bernius, and Philippe Herreweghe, among others. Highly regarded as a concert and recital singer, he also appears on major opera stages such as Brussels at La Monnaie, Liège, Rennes, Avignon, Reims, and Versailles, under the direction of conductors including Christophe Rousset. Thibaut Lenaerts is an active member of the Chœur de chambre de Namur, both as a singer and as a coach and preparer of the ensemble. Since 2014, he has been appointed assistant conductor to Leonardo Garcia Alarcon. With Les Arts Florissants, he has performed worldwide, including in Rio de Janeiro, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Singapore, Moscow, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Istanbul. He regularly collaborates with stage directors such as Robert Carsen, Frédéric Dussenne, Luc Bondy, José Montalvo, and Deborah Warner. Thibaut Lenaerts teaches at the Conservatoires Royaux de Bruxelles and de Liège. He has participated in the recording of around fifty CDs and directs his own vocal and instrumental ensemble, Le Petit Sablon. In his teaching at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, he draws on his experience as a singer and choral conductor to prepare the singers and musicians of tomorrow as thoroughly as possible.
