Sarah Goldfarb

Biography

A musician graduated from the Conservatoires of Brussels and Liège, Sarah Goldfarb continued her studies in England, where she obtained a postgraduate diploma in Cultural Mediation at the Guildhall School of Music and, two years later, a Master’s degree in musical composition at City University. Her research focused on the relationship between music and dance. In London, where she lived for ten years, her activities were shared between dance, music, and workshop facilitation for a wide range of audiences. She led a company bringing together musicians and dancers and, between 1996 and 2005, created numerous productions combining dance, voice, and text. After returning to Brussels in 1999, she became responsible for educational projects for the Ars Musica festival and carried out numerous projects for the Théâtre Royal de La Monnaie, Bozar, Reseo, and the Association Française des Orchestres. In 2004, she founded the center for expression and creativity ReMuA (Réseau de Musiciens Intervenants en Ateliers). She established a training program for musician facilitators certified by the Communauté Française, workshops for children where music is learned through creation, and an intensive collective instrumental learning program for children from disadvantaged neighborhoods. In 2015, the non profit organization received recognition from Venezuela and became El Sistema Belgium. The Orchestre National de Belgique, the Orchestre Royal Philharmonique de Liège, and the Brussels Philharmonic are associated with the project. Since 2006, Sarah Goldfarb has worked regularly as a cultural mediator for the Cité de la Musique and the Philharmonie, the Association Française des Orchestres, Les Siècles, the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, the Musiciens du Louvre, the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, and the Théâtre du Capitole. She designs participatory concerts, audience development programs, training sessions for orchestra musicians, as well as workshops in musical practice and creation based on the orchestra repertoire. She teaches creativity and didactics at the Conservatoire de Bruxelles. She is also a member of the teaching team of the Cultural Mediation program at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
