Benoît Douchy

Biography

The son of a musician, Benoit Douchy was immersed in the world of music from a very young age. He began studying the violin with Raymond d’Haeyer and continued his musical education at the Conservatoire supérieur de Bruxelles in the class of Georges Octors. He then specialized in early music at the Conservatoire de La Haye with Sigiswald Kuijken. After completing his studies, he joined the orchestra La Petite Bande and has since participated in projects with numerous European early music ensembles, including Il Fondamento, Akademia, Le Poème Harmonique, and Les Folies Françoises. He is also one of the founding members of the baroque orchestra Les Agrémens (Namur). His passion for teaching quickly led him to a career in education. He has been teaching chamber music for over twenty years at the Conservatoire royal de Mons and baroque violin at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. He is frequently invited by Belgian and international institutions to lead training projects. In this spirit, he created and organized the Namur Early Music Workshop, a collaboration between his non-profit organization Métamusique and the Choral Singing Center. Benoit Douchy is also president and coordinator of the Early Music Department at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles.
