Biography

Julie Delbart (Tournai, 11/03/1987) began her musical studies at the age of four. After obtaining her Premier Prix in Solfège at the age of 14 at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, she continued her piano studies there in 2004 with the renowned pianist Dominique Cornil and worked with leading figures of the music world including Guy Danel, Muhiddin Dürruoglu-Demiriz, Marie Hallynck, Eliane Reyes, and Sergio Tiempo. In 2008 she was named laureate of the Fondation Horlait-Dapsens. In 2009 she completed her Master Spécialisé in Piano with Grande Distinction and won the Premier Prix of the Concours des Concerti at the Conservatoire, across all disciplines, giving her the opportunity to perform as a soloist with a symphony orchestra under the direction of Guy Van Waas. She also received a Special Prize from the Patrimoine du CRB for her outstanding achievement. After completing her Master Spécialisé in Piano d’accompagnement and her agrégation, Julie was immediately appointed as accompanist at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, working with students in lyrical singing, cello, and clarinet. Julie has been invited to perform at numerous concerts and festivals as a soloist, concerto soloist, and chamber musician including Festival de Lasne, Juillet Musical d’Aulne, Rencontres Inattendues, Printemps Musical de Silly, Balade Musicale à Rixensart, Gala Concert with the Orchestre Royal de la Marine, Festival Contrastes, and Festival Bruxellons, as well as in countries such as Belgium, France, the United States (New York), the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, China, Brazil, and Bulgaria.

She performs with distinguished artists from different fields including music, spoken arts, cinema, philosophy, and dance such as José Van Dam, Marie-Christine Barrault, Bruno Coppens, Daniel Linehan, and Antoine Guillaume. In 2011 she was named laureate of the Fondation Belge Vocatio within the Raoul Servais Promotion. Julie was scheduled for 2017 and 2018 to perform as a soloist with orchestra, as a chamber musician, and at festivals as well as in international piano accompaniment competitions, masterclasses, and tours with productions such as Cabaret and Vous avez dit Broadway, alongside several orchestral productions. She has performed as pianist and assistant musical director for Cabaret which has been highly successful since September 2014 on major Belgian, French including Grand Théâtre de Provence Aix-en-Provence, Maison de la Danse Lyon, Le Quartz Brest, Théâtre André Malraux Rueil Malmaison, Le Colisée Roubaix and Swiss stages. In summer 2015 she was pianist and assistant musical director of La Mélodie du Bonheur at Château Karreveld during Festival Bruxellons. In summer 2016 Julie was appointed pianist, assistant musical director, and adapter-translator of the musical Evita world premiere in French. Summer 2018 was dedicated to the touring production of Vous avez dit Broadway as well as the world premiere in French of Sunset Boulevard where she again served as assistant musical director and concert pianist. Julie is supported by Kiwanis Club Tourcoing Neuville. La Monnaie has also invited her to participate in several productions as celeste pianist within the chamber orchestra and symphony orchestra under conductors including Alain Altinoglu, Michael Boder, Evelino Pidò, Patrick Davin, Franck Ollu, and Antonello Manacorda. She received the Maurice Lefranc prize awarded every two years to a pianist demonstrating qualities indicative of a promising artistic career. Since March 2017 Julie has been pianist-accompanist in the Voice Department of the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth working alongside José Van Dam.
