Aymeric De Villoutreys

Biography

Aymeric de Villoutreys, a concert violinist, won the first prize as well as the DEM at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Rennes in France in 2001 and then continued his advanced studies mainly with Marie-Annick Nicolas, soloist and professor at the Conservatoire de Genève. After obtaining specialized and didactic Master’s degrees at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles and with a strong passion for chamber music, he founded the Quatuor Amôn in 2008. The quartet quickly became a laureate of the ProQuartet-CEMC program in Paris and was in residence at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth from 2010 to 2012. The group benefited from the guidance of exceptional musicians who are members of the Danel, Artémis, Prazak, Alban Berg, Debussy, and Cleveland Quartets. Winner of the 25th European Chamber Music Competition organized by Fnapec in Paris in 2011, Quatuor Amôn has performed on international stages in Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Italy, Poland, and in 2015 toured China in Asia. Passionate about early music, Aymeric de Villoutreys also studied baroque violin with Patrick Bismuth in Paris in 2002 and later with Mira Glodeanu at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in 2012. At the same time, he developed his approach to performing classical and romantic repertoire on period instruments at the Abbaye de Saintes under the direction of Philippe Herreweghe. He is regularly invited to perform with the orchestra Les Siècles, conducted by François-Xavier Roth in Paris, as well as with the Brussels Philharmonic and the OPRL in Liège. The musician’s decision to develop a chamber music group allows him to increase his independence in several areas. Time management, defining his own musical objectives through the approach of specific techniques in ensemble playing, including articulation corresponding to the chosen style, tone production, harmonic intonation, and finally communication with the audience, are all skills that are addressed and developed in chamber music classes.
