Florence Bellière

Biography

Born in Mons in 1964, Florence Bellière obtained a Premier Prix in trumpet in 1989 at the Conservatoire royal de Mons. In 1995, she became a certified musicologist at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. That same year, she was hired by the Musée des Instruments de Musique and became a professor of music history at INSAS, Institut national des Arts du Spectacle. In addition to her experience as a trumpeter in various orchestras, such as the Opéra des Flandres, she obtained in 2003 a position as lecturer for the organology course at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles and in 2008 obtained the same position at the Conservatoire de Mons. From 2005 to 2014, Florence Bellière directed a big band in Ghent that performed regularly in concerts. Since 2007, she has been taking French horn lessons with Jean Pierre Dassonville, principal horn at La Monnaie. In 2008, she became a scientific assistant to Malou Haine at the Centre international pour l'étude du XIXe siècle and held a four year mandate at ULB as assistant for the organology course. Since 2009, she has also been teaching organology at the Conservatoire de Mons as well as the course in early music theory. In 2012, she was hired by Belspo, Federal Science Policy, and notably organized the summer exhibition that brings together the federal museums at the Royal Palace of Brussels.
