Chryssi Dimitriou

Biography

Chryssi Dimitriou is a flutist who has chosen to dedicate her activity to contemporary music. Born in Athens, she studied there with Stella Gadedi before continuing her training in Europe, supported by the Alexandra Trianti and Alexandros S. Onassis foundations, studying with Peter Lloyd and Anders Ljungar Chapelon in Manchester, Pierre-Yves Artaud in Paris, Mario Caroli in Strasbourg, and Michael Schmid in Ghent. She now lives and works in Brussels.

Her career has been shaped through diverse collaborations, notably with the ensemble Ictus and the company Rosas. Since 2019, she has been sharing her practice and research in contemporary flute at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. In 2023, she obtained a Doctorate in Arts from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), supported by a scholarship from the Alexandros S. Onassis foundation, with a dissertation entitled Remembering of bright times: Inside the palimpsest of the gaze.
