Charlotte Otte is a Belgian pianist who trained initially at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she studied in Pascal Sigrist's class. She also received training in fortepiano from Bart van Oort, who enriched her stylistic approach and her relationship with historical instruments. She then obtained a Master's degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, in Jan Michiels' class, deepening her sense of interpretation and her artistic curiosity.
Wishing to anchor her musical practice in a process of transmission, she trained in pedagogy at the same time, obtaining the AESS at the IMEP, before further broadening her artistic horizons with a second Master's degree in contemporary music at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, within the Ictus and Spectra ensembles. After completing her studies, she performed in several contemporary music contexts and festivals, both as a soloist and in chamber music, covering contemporary repertoires: ReMusic (Saint Petersburg), Handelsbeurs (Ghent), Lille Opera, Festival Image Sonore (Liège), Logos (Ghent), UCB Festival (Brussels), Brussels City Hall, De Singel (Antwerp), etc. This immersion in contemporary languages fuels her interest in improvisation and leads her to participate in various interdisciplinary and educational projects: Festival Sunpainting (Anderlecht), NightLight (Maison Stepman, Koekelberg), Cinematek (Festival Filem'on, Brussels), etc.
Deeply committed to teaching, she holds the positions of piano teacher and accompanist at the Berchem-Sainte-Agathe Academy, an institution she will direct from 2020 to 2024. Since 2015, she has also been teaching musical improvisation there, sharing her love of creativity and sound research with her students. From 2017 to 2020, she was a methodology tutor at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, helping students develop their teaching approach. She currently teaches keyboard methodology there. In parallel with her teaching activities, Charlotte Otte shares her chamber music practice in various classical and contemporary ensembles, cultivating an open and resolutely multifaceted artistic career.
