Angélique Giorgio

Biography

Musician and teacher, graduated from the Conservatories of Liège and Maastricht in harp, piano, music education, music history, music analysis, world music rhythms, and rhythms and rhythmic patterns.

A teacher for nearly 15 years at the Conservatoire de Verviers and assistant in music education methodology at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège from 2021 to 2024, Angélique Giorgio received artistic training from numerous teachers, including Patrick Dheur and Masumi Nagasawa, in different schools, cities and countries, assimilating experiences and discoveries throughout her career.  

From childhood, she joined the choir of the Maîtrise de l'Opéra Royal de Wallonie, then joined various opera and operetta companies, participating in productions such as Carmen, The Magic Flute, Tosca with José van Damme, and La Bohème directed by Marta Domingo.

As a harpist, singer and percussionist, she collaborates with various ensembles, joined the flamenco-jazz quintet Golpes and recorded the album Por Las Calles. More recently, she joined the early music ensemble Estampie and performs in various duos with storytellers, poets and writers such as Béatrice Libert and Gabriel Ringlet, performs as a dancer in Cuban music ensembles, and has taken up flamenco, exploring a wide and colourful range of musical repertoires and teaching approaches. 

She explores and is passionate about active and explicit teaching methods, training in the Jacques-Dalcroze and Orff methods and the application of H. Gardner's theories in relation to the latest discoveries in neuroscience in teaching practice according to the Octofun approach.

At the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles, she currently teaches Rhythm and Movement; Methodology of Rhythm Teaching; and Rhythm Practice and Experience.
