Alan Brind is an English violinist. He has been performing as a soloist for several years, following his victory in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. Since then, he has played in several of the finest chamber music ensembles and symphony orchestras. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Frederick Grinke, Manoug Parikian, Anne Sophie Mutter, Zakhar Bron, and Christopher Warren Green.
He performs as a soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Hilversum Radio Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, and English Chamber Orchestra.
After two years as concertmaster of the ECYO, he was a founding member of the European Soloists Ensemble. He was also a member of the Mullova Ensemble, which recorded Bach's violin concertos for Philips Classics. As an orchestral musician, he has collaborated with The Philharmonia, London Symphony Orchestra, Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields, Lucerne Festival Orchestra, London Chamber Orchestra, Nederlands Kamer Orkest, and the English Chamber Orchestra. He is also a member of the Human Rights Orchestra. With these orchestras, he has performed under conductors such as Haitink, Abbado, Giulini, Svetlanov, Muti, Dudamel, Dutoit, and Sanderling.
His recordings include Sibelius' concerto and Chausson's Poème with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and Stravinsky's The Soldier's Tale with the European Soloists Ensemble and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
