Christiane Gleis

Biography

Christiane Gleis studied translation (German-French-English) at Institut supérieur de traducteurs et interprètes (ISTI) in Brussels. After her studies she worked as a free-lance translator, translating a. o. several books of psychology published by Marabout, exhibition catalogues for Bozar, poetry, libretti and film scenarios and subtitles for Belgian and Luxemburgish films.
Since 1987, she is teaching German diction and literature for singers at the Conservatoire royal de musique de Bruxelles (CrmB) and since 2011 at the Institut supérieur de musique et de pédagogie de Namur (IMEP). She is the German language coach at the International Opera Academy (IOA) since 2010, since  2014 at Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth and since 2015  at the EVD (European Vocal Department).
She has developed an original topic and project related method of teaching German to singing students and  has become a specialist of German romanticism and the German Lied.
She was the translator, dramatist and language coach in many projects.
