Gérald Philippe

Biography

Gérald Philippe was born in Belgium, from a Belgian father and a German mother.
Brought up in Belgium, he studied political sciences and international relations at the Catholic University of Louvain, spending an Erasmus exchange semester in Bologna (Italy). He next started Law Studies, but eventually opted for a Master in European Affairs from the University of Aachen (Germany).
Following this path, he did internships for the European institutions in Brussels, London and Rome and subsequently entered the services of the European Commission, where he spent a range of 10 years working in various fields (External Relations, Enlargement, Transport, Energy,…). Over this period, he took two sabbaticals and travelled extensively in South, Central America and Asia.
Classical music, and the vocal repertoire in particular, has always been his passion. From 2009 to 2017 he worked for Opera Europa as membership coordinator. At the start of 2018, he became booking agent for the Namur Chamber Choir and the Cappella Mediterranea and works closely with the conductor Leonardo García Alarcón.
Since early 2019, in parallel, he has been teaching German at the IMEP. And since September 2020, he became assistant in German at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
