Dalle più alte sfere : The madrigals soloists of the interludes of the Pellegrina
Concert / conference
November 17 2025 19:00
The six interludes of La pellegrina played in 1589 in Florence synthesize the aesthetics of the Renaissance while laying the groundwork for so-called baroque music through the introduction of madrigals with solo voice and continuous bass. The extensive documentation on their execution is quite unique, and their plethoric instrumentarium testifies to an important search for instrumental colors. In this concert lecture, Nicolas Achten will share the state of his doctoral research (ULB/CrB) focusing on the solo passages of these interludes.
Nicolas Achten, baritone and chitarrone
Sojeong Im, soprano
Justin Glaie, bass lute
