Archives

From 1832 to 1966

The archives of the Conservatoire containing material relating to the period 1832-1966 are either held in the library, or in the State Archives of Belgium.

The library contains the records of students and teachers between 1832 and 1966, administrative correspondence (1832-1871), examination registers, official reports of the Board of the conservatoire, or "Commission de Surveillance", etc.

Part of these archives is described in the online catalogue. These documents are always denoted with a code starting "ARC".
Consult catalog.b-bc.org or contact the Library.

The State Archives of Belgium also hold records relating to the Conservatoire. There is an inventory summarising this collection:
Inventaris van het archief van het Koninklijk Muziekconservatorium te Brussel, 1832-1834, 1876-1931
Archives générales du Royaume, Emile Vandewoude, 1995.

From 1967 to the present

In 1967, the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles was divided into two sections which today have become two independent institutions : the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles (CrB) and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel (KCB).
For archives relating to the period after 1967, please contact the Library directly.
