Alumni of the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles: Isaac Albéniz (1860-1909)
March 16 2026 19:00
The Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz studied piano at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles between 1876 and 1879 in Louis Brassin's class. He forged links with Belgium that would lead to the premiere of his opera Pepita Jiménez at La Monnaie in 1905. The lecture will explore the relationships between Albéniz, the students and teachers of the Conservatoire, and Belgium. It will be accompanied by musical performances by students from Hugues Navez's guitar class and Victor Chestopal's piano class.
