Drawing on the subject of her thesis, Kristine Tjøgersen, a composer of international renown, explores the links that artists have forged over the centuries between music and nature.

UNFOLDING NATURE – Nature Expressed through Classical and Contemporary Composition: this is the title of the thesis written by the Norwegian musician Kristine Tjøgersen, born in Oslo in 1982, as part of her studies at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz (Austria).

Now an internationally renowned composer, she collaborates with some of the most prestigious ensembles and orchestras (the Kronos Quartet, Klangforum Wien, the WDR Sinfonieorchester, the Oslo Philharmonic, and others). Nature – of which we are an integral part – is always at the heart of her musical work. A sensitivity tinged with humour blends with a deep love of sound and an ongoing dialogue with other fields of expertise (biologists in particular).

To our great delight, Kristine Tjøgersen has agreed to take part in a music history session at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, open to the public, which will explore the links between music and the living world that artists have woven in countless ways over the centuries: Clément Janequin, Jean-Philippe Rameau, Claude Debussy, John Cage and Kristine Tjøgersen.
