The Olympic concerts
May 6 2026 19:00
The students in the conducting class present a truly Olympic program. The 90th symphony in C major by Joseph Haydn, composed in 1788 for the series of Parisian concerts which met with extraordinary success at "La Loge olympique", constitutes a culminating point. In Paris, Haydn was able to show his exceptional mastery to a wider audience and established himself with this series of Parisian Symphonies as the greatest composer alive.
Like a distant echo through the centuries, Francis Poulenc’s 1947 Sinfonietta completes the programme and paints a subtle and humorous picture of 20th-century Parisian life.
