The Olympic concerts
May 6 2026 19:00
The students in the conducting class present a truly Olympic program. Composed in 1788, Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 90 in C major was a highlight of his series of Parisian concerts at the Olympic Lodge. Haydn was able to show a wide audience his exceptional mastery of orchestral writing and established himself with this series of symphonies called "Parisian" as one of the major composers of his time.
Like a distant echo through the centuries, Francis Poulenc’s 1947 "Sinfonietta" completes the programme and paints a subtle and humorous picture of 20th-century Parisian life.
