Teachers Concert KCB & CRB

The 8th concert in the "See you after the Break" series is a true collaboration between the KCB and the CRB. Not only on an organisational level, but also on an artistic level, with teachers from the Flemish-speaking conservatoire performing the first part of the concert and teachers from the French-speaking conservatoire performing the second part.

May 2 2024 20:00

Program
Sergei Rachmaninov, Trio élégiaque, nr. 2 in D minor, op. 9
Eugène Ysaÿe, Poème Elegiac
César Franck, Pianotrio, op. 1, Nr. 1

Antal Szalai, violin - Viviane Spanoghe, cello - Jan Michiels, piano
Tatiana Samouil, violin - Justus Grimm, cello - Johan Schmidt, piano

Sergei Rachmaninov's Piano Trio No. 2 has been dubbed 'elegiac' for a reason. It illustrates the sad, introspective nature of the work, combined with passion in a Romantic style. A haunting work that is also synonymous with Rachmaninov's later works.
The melodic ingenuity and harmonic depth are found in another piano trio that will be performed here. César Francks wrote this piano trio, Op. 1, No. 1, just as Rachmaninov did in his youth and which characterises his later work.
Eugène Ysaÿes's Poème élégiaque is a technically challenging work for the violinist, but particularly expressive and rich in emotion. This evening is sure to be rich in emotion, with brilliant and sublime performances by leading teachers from the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles and the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.
