Maupassant, here and there...
November 20 2025 19:00
Maupassant, the author we all encountered during our teenage years; from ‘The Horla’ to ‘The Necklace’, from ‘A Life’ to ‘Bel Ami’, reading him is sometimes charming, often too precocious... then we move on to more serious matters: Flaubert, Zola... However, when we decide to revisit him as adults, we realise that far from being a simple author, he dissects his era and the human soul with surgical precision. Maupassant never ceased to narrate extraordinary events through ordinary lives. Thanks to his colourful style, his precise phrasing and his gift for oral expression, the students of the 2025-2026 Master's programme will take you on a journey through some of his short stories. Come and let yourself be enchanted by this joyful prose...
