With the “Alea” ensemble

This ensemble came about when students from the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles met whilst taking part in an ensemble dedicated to free improvisation. From this encounter arose the idea of continuing their work outside the conservatoire. For over a year now, we have been holding regular sessions at the Jazz Station. We place the emphasis on the collective and on sharing constantly evolving musical ideas. To create the music, we do not use pre-established themes or harmonies, but we set constraints relating to listening, form and instrumental interplay which guide us and enable us to construct spontaneous music.
